We are Crescimento Limpo, also known as CL- Changing Lives, an NGO that supports homeless people by offering housing, support and work for those seeking renewal and a fresh start.
Our story
In 2011, we decided to open the doors of our home to welcome friends from the street and have lunch together. And we decided to believe that these same friends were capable people. Everything grew from there. Once invited, our friends from the street started preparing lunch, taking care of the cleaning tasks and even bringing food to share.
Some of them asked for support to be admitted. They went, spent six months in a therapeutic community and came back feeling renewed. But this brought us to a big dilemma: where does a person go after leaving the clinic? Without a family to take them back, and without the means to rent a house, all they had left was the street. We saw this dilemma as our mission.
Crescimento Limpo exists to enable healthy and lasting independence for our friends who are homeless. Our primary focus is assisted living, offering post-clinical rehabilitation. Today, through referrals from therapeutic communities, hospitals, and the city, CL House residents take on full-time work and caregiving responsibilities. And we support them in dealing with the challenges of independent living.
At Casa CL we use the services of a psychologist, social worker and support group. We attend a Christian community and promote various social and educational events, both inside and outside the Casa, as a means of supporting healthy resocialization.
